To me, public health is serving communities, giving voices to the underserved, and promoting health.
I often find myself saying, "public health is everything". To me, public health is looking out for the health and wellness of every living thing on the planet and understanding the symbiosis of these relationships.
Public health, to me, is the fundamental foundation of a compassionate and healthy society. It embodies the collective commitment to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all individuals in our community, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, or background. At its core, public health is not just about treating diseases, but also preventing them from occurring in the first place. Public health also means ensuring that everyone has equal and equitable access to the resources and opportunities needed to live healthy and happy lives.
Public Health is everywhere and everything. This is something I have come to learn throughout my MPH experience and nursing school experience. The relationships we make, the decisions we make, the activities we do is all public health. By doing things that keep us happy and healthy and vice versa means we're participating in public health whether we think we are or not. Public Health is a need and everyone needs it.
To me, public health means working together across all disciplines to address health disparities and ensure healthy living is attainable for all.
Public health to me is the continuous fight for health equity and justice to ensure that as many people as possible are able to achieve health, safety and wellbeing.
Public health is a movement that incorporates knowledge and expertise from all disciplines to create impacts that will last for generations.
To me, public health embodies collaboration at its core. It's about bringing together diverse expertise, resources, and communities to safeguard and promote the well-being of everyone, ensuring that no one is left behind. It's the collective effort to address health challenges, prevent diseases, and enhance the quality of life for all members of society.
