The Heart of Access: Using narrative film to center equity in the public health curriculum
Join ASPPH’s IDEA Institute for a live screening of The Heart of Access, an award-winning documentary about San Francisco’s community-led COVID-19 response in historically marginalized communities. The film highlights how trusted partnerships and culturally responsive approaches improved vaccination uptake and health outcomes. Following the screening, public health leaders will discuss lessons learned, the role of storytelling in advancing health equity, and how documentary film can be used to enhance public health education. Participants will gain practical ideas for incorporating film-based learning into conversations about equity, trust, and community engagement.
