ASPPH Advocates for Academic Public Health at HRSA Budget Listening Session

ASPPH Advocates for Academic Public Health at HRSA Budget Listening Session

As the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) works to develop its Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 budget, they convened a listening session last week to hear directly from key stakeholders for recommendations on how they can best support the communities they serve. Beeta Rasouli, ASPPH’s Director of Advocacy and Federal Affairs, attended the listening session and shared her testimony on behalf of ASPPH, advocating specifically for Public Health Training Centers (PHTCs) and the Public Health Workforce Loan Repayment Program.

ASPPH continues to prioritize HRSA through its FY 2025 advocacy efforts and beyond. More information on our advocacy work, as well as our updated FY 2025 Funding Priorities, can be found on our Take Action page.

During the listening session, HRSA Administrator Carole Johnson emphasized HRSA’s priorities which include expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly for vulnerable populations, and enhancing the healthcare workforce through training, scholarships, and support for healthcare facilities in medically underserved areas.

HRSA also aims to improve maternal and child health outcomes, address substance abuse and mental health challenges, and help end the HIV/AIDS epidemic through the Ryan White program.
