We are excited to recently welcome three new grant and donor-funded staff members to ASPPH. We are committed to finding the best possible candidates to support our work in advancing academic public health and we attract talent from a diverse pool of applicants, allowing us to embrace the tenets of gender, racial, ethnic, and geographical representation in the workplace. Due to our being awarded grants and receiving funding, we were able to fill the following three positions.

  • Beth Handler: Beth Handler serves as the Director of Public Health Credentialing at ASPPH. In this role, Beth is responsible for implementing, managing, and reporting on credentialing-related grant programs housed within the ASPPH Center for Public Health Workforce Development. Prior to joining ASPPH, Beth served as a Senior Project Director for the COVID-19 Vaccine Surge Staff and Public Health Workforce Initiatives housed at the CDC Foundation. Beth has also served in several leadership positions in Nevada, including the Deputy Director of Programs for the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services. Beth brings experience in project leadership, systems change, and public health practice. Beth received her MPH, Bachelor of Science in Biology, and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Emory University.
  • Isaiah Jenkins: Isaiah joins ASPPH as the Coordinator for Undergraduate Education bringing a wealth of experience in public health research, education, and community engagement. His new role will involve supporting and revitalizing the Undergraduate Network for Academic Public Health. Isaiah will support the programming, communications, and membership functions related to the Undergraduate Network while working across departments to ensure seamless service to network members. His commitment to advancing public health education is evident in his previous contributions to the University of Virgina’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Isaiah holds an MPH from the University of Virginia, where he studied HPV vaccination hesitancy.
  • Adam Merriam: Adam joins ASPPH as a Grants Finance Manager supporting ASPPH’s grant-funded projects. His role focuses on streamlining post-award administration through financial monitoring, compliance, and reporting activities. He holds a Master’s Degree in Security Studies from the Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service and a BA in Politics and Government from the University of Hartford.
