Lack of Men of Color Graduating from the Health Professions Declared a Crisis by Association CEOs

As part of our ongoing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (DEIJ) initiatives, ASPPH proudly worked with the Federation of Associations of Schools of the Health Professions (FASHP) to declare the low number of historically underrepresented men of color (HUMOC) graduating and entering the health professions a national crisis.

Representing 16 CEOs of national academic health professions associations, FASHP released a consensus statement addressing this critical issue. ASPPH also collaborated with other FASHP members to draft and release a press release about the need to raise awareness regarding this critical issue and identify barriers and provide resources to dramatically increase the number of men of color graduating from the academic health professions.

DEIJ principles are the very cornerstone of our work at ASPPH, outlined in our 2030 Strategic Plan, and we will continue to advocate for health equity in all we do.
