ASPPH is excited to offer a webinar on Implicit Bias in Application Review on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 1:00 pm ET.
An important component of any mission-aligned application review process is ensuring that each applicant receives an equitable review. Application reviewers are often influenced by their own experiences and perceptions when reviewing applications. These influences often appear as implicit biases and can create an inequitable application review process.
This webinar will teach attendees how to prevent implicit bias from influencing admissions decisions. It will expand on how to identify biases in ourselves and others and strategies that reduce the impact that implicit bias has on the review process.
Goal: Attendees will learn how to prevent implicit bias from influencing the application review process and admissions decisions.
Objectives:
· Describe how implicit bias impacts application review for individual reviewers and committee discussions.
· Discuss strategies for identifying personal and committee biases.
· Attendees will learn strategies to reduce the impact that implicit bias has on admissions decisions.
