Last week, Laura Magaña, ASPPH President and CEO, joined Boris Lushniak, Dean of the University of Maryland School of Public Health and Chair of ASPPH’s Advocacy Committee; Tim Leshan, ASPPH Chief External Relations and Advocacy Officer; and Beeta Rasouli, ASPPH Director of Advocacy and Federal Affairs, at a meeting with the newly established (in 2023) White House Office of Pandemic Preparedness (OPPR).
Potential collaboration opportunities were discussed, and the meeting aimed to establish a strategic partnership, leveraging ASPPH’s extensive network and expertise to enhance pandemic preparedness efforts.
OPPR was established by Congress to lead and coordinate actions related to pandemic preparedness and response, advise the President, and ensure rapid detection and response to biological threats in the US. It is also tasked with developing a report on the government’s response to COVID-19.
