ASPPH is pleased to share six-month post-grant updates from ten of our Cohort II Riegelman This Is Public Health (TIPH) Global Grant Program awardees. These grantees continue to advance their TIPH Global projects and plan to sustain their efforts beyond the grant period. Projects have leveraged virtual outreach—including email, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Spotify—as well as publications, presentations, and curricular development to amplify their impact.

Highlights from the past six months include:

  • Makerere University launched a university blog focused on flood and landslide awareness in Uganda and presented at multiple conferences.
  • IIHMR University is expanding its podcast, EN-SURE HEALTH, setting the stage for an engaging second season.
  • The University of Wollongong (UOW) continues to work to deter e-cigarette use and support students in quitting nicotine products.
  • The University of Western Australia (UWA) is currently leading a student trip to Fiji, where participants are promoting TIPH videos and assessing rural health issues.
  • The University College Dublin (UCD) presented its findings on infectious disease epidemiology competencies to faculty.
  • The University of Belgrade is sustaining its public health cinema screenings and panel discussions.
  • Escuela Andaluza de Salud Pública (EASP) launched AMRedxtion, a virtual platform providing accessible education on antimicrobial resistance.
  • Monash University is developing new podcast episodes highlighting careers in public health, with plans to record a second season this year.
  • Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública (INSP) continues patient recruitment and survey efforts to support women with breast cancer in navigating treatment.
  • The University of Kabianga has been meeting with teachers and students across secondary schools to assess public health awareness and programming, with plans to expand student recruitment efforts.

All grantees report positive progress over the past six months, with any obstacles successfully addressed. We commend their ongoing efforts and look forward to welcoming a new cohort in May 2025.
