Revisionist COVID-19 History Endangers Public Health | ASPPH Members’ Op-Ed

ASPPH Member’s Coauthor Crucial Op-ed Combatting Revisionist COVID-19 History

We are pleased to announce the publication of a crucial op-ed titled “Revisionist COVID-19 history endangers public health,” by ASPPH board members Perry Halkitis, PhD, and Boris Lushniak, MD. Spearheaded by ASPPH, the op-ed provides a poignant critique of the ongoing misinterpretation and politicization of the COVID-19 pandemic and its handling, illuminating the perils of undermining scientific facts and public health policies. It also emphasizes the necessity for a united and well-informed response to pandemic preparedness.

The op-ed highlights the detrimental impact of congressional funding cuts to the COVID-19 response efforts as well as cautioning against the dangerous notion of achieving herd immunity without sufficient vaccination coverage. It also critiques the flawed approach of the Great Barrington Declaration, which advocates for “focused protection” instead of comprehensive prevention measures.

ASPPH’s commitment to academic excellence and public health advocacy, serves as a reminder of the consequences of sidelining science and public health expertise. It is a call-to-action to prioritize evidence-based approaches in the fight against COVID-19 and future pandemics, ensuring the health and well-being of populations worldwide.
