A new Public Health Reports study describes use of an International Classification of Diseases neonatal opioid exposure code for infants who were exposed to opioids in utero but do not exhibit clinically significant withdrawal symptoms that was introduced in 2018. The use of multiple codes increased, suggesting that some ambiguity may exist about which code is most appropriate for a given set of symptoms.
