What inspired you to study public health?

Coming from a community that is historically underrepresented, I understood a lot of the issues. I grew up asking questions and waiting for these supposed helping authorities to appear. When they didn’t, as a child, I vowed to do more and help my people. I was determined to help others in the most impactful way, and that was through a career in Public Health. When I learned of the numerous opportunities to connect directly with the community, I knew I was on the right path.

What has been the single most rewarding experience of your career/studies so far?

Seeing underrepresented communities find their voice to advocate for the injustices they experience is one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.
