HRSA/MCHB Funding Opportunities Now Open — Maternal Health Disparity Research for Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs)

Through a single funding announcement, two different Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) activities are being funded—research centers and a coordinating center—and are now open for applications.

The application cycles for the following funding opportunities are now open:

Maternal Health Research Collaborative for Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) Coordinating Center

Maternal Health Research Collaborative for MSIs: Research Centers

  • Up to 16 awards
  • Up to $450,000 per award per year
  • Closing date: June 12, 2023
  • View summary information and eligibility on The Research Centers Flyer

The Coordinating Center and the Research Centers fall under one notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) with 2 separate applications. The purpose of the Collaborative is to establish a multi-institutional research network that is comprised of and supports MSIs to build their capacity to conduct research addressing disparities in maternal health outcomes and to find community-based solutions to address these disparities and advance health equity.

Eligibility is limited to public or non-profit institutions of higher learning and public or private non-profit agencies engaged in research or in programs relating to maternal and child health and/or services for children with special health care needs. Faith-based and community-based organizations, Tribes, and tribal organizations are eligible to apply. MSIs are especially encouraged to apply to this opportunity; non-MSI applicants are expected to partner with an MSI.
