As we mark this Fourth of July, we do so in a moment of deep reflection for the public health community. The past few years, and especially recent months, have brought significant challenges to our field. In an environment of heightened scrutiny and shifting public discourse, these times have tested our resolve. Yet through it all, our commitment to truth, equity, and the well-being of all communities remains steadfast.

Independence Day is a time to remember the values that shaped our nation and to reaffirm our responsibility to uphold them. Public health is essential to that vision, ensuring that every person has the opportunity to live a safe, healthy, and dignified life. As we celebrate this holiday, let us recommit to our mission and to building a future rooted in justice, integrity, and civic engagement.
