As we celebrate Independence Day, we are reminded that the strength of our nation has always depended on our willingness to work together in pursuit of the common good. This year has brought continued challenges for public health, higher education, and scientific research, while also reinforcing the essential role schools and programs of public health play in protecting and improving the health of our communities. Through changing circumstances, the public health community has remained resilient, innovative, and unwavering in its commitment to serving others.
The Fourth of July offers an opportunity to reflect on the values that unite us: service, collaboration, opportunity, and the pursuit of a healthier future for all. As educators, researchers, practitioners, and students, we each contribute to that vision by preparing the next generation of leaders, advancing discovery, and strengthening the health of communities across the country and around the world.
Thank you for your continued leadership, dedication, and partnership. I wish you and your loved ones a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day.
