In anticipation of the upcoming White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, ASPPH was asked—as the leading voice in academic public health—to pledge to endorse the White House Nutrition Strategy, “Integrate Nutrition and Health: A Call to Action.” The strategy calls for expanding nutrition education among health professionals.
The Call to Action states that “millions of Americans experience hunger or food insecurity, dramatically impacting their quality of life and putting them at risk for malnutrition-related illnesses.” By signing the pledge, ASPPH commits to working with the White House on ways schools and programs of public health can expand their work on the critical issue of nutrition and hunger.
The White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health will take place Wednesday, September 28 from 9 AM – 5 PM ET. It will be live streamed on www.whitehouse.gov and www.health.gov. These websites will also contain information on panel speakers and sessions closer to the event.
