In 2024, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) awarded funding to ASPPH to provide capacity-building assistance to Tribal Health Departments. ASPPH is excited to announce the ASPPH/CDC Tribal Health Department Fellowship Program, through which Tribal Health Departments will be eligible to host a public health fellow and receive workforce development and infrastructure support.

Fellows placed in Tribal Health Departments will be professionals who have earned a graduate-level degree in public health from an ASPPH-member, CEPH-accredited school or program of public health between May 2020 and August 2025. Applications are being accepted now through June 30, 2025 at 11:59 PM PT.

Fellows will have the opportunity to train directly with Tribal Health Department leaders, contributing to projects identified by and unique to each Tribal Health Department host site. Fellows will gain practical Tribal public health experience as well as culturally relevant professional development. The program aims to provide capacity-building assistance to Tribal Health Departments while also preparing the next generation of Tribal public health leaders.

FELLOWSHIP DETAILS

• Duration: 1-year workforce training placements beginning September 2025, with the possibility of extension for up to one year.
• Locations: Tribal Health Departments across the US. Each fellow will serve in one Tribal Health Department.
• Number of Positions: Up to six fellows will be placed in Tribal Health Departments across the US.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have:

• Received a graduate degree from an ASPPH-member, CEPH-accredited school or program of public health between May 2020 and August 2025.
• US citizenship or permanent residency (green card status)
