The Stanford School of Medicine is now accepting applications for the second year of its Health Equity Media Fellowship, a unique, paid training opportunity designed to strengthen health equity journalism and address critical gaps in public health communication. The program is open to candidates from diverse professional backgrounds, including public health, who are within five years of graduation from a degree-granting or medical training program. The deadline to apply is May 31, 2025.
Launching in September 2025, this hybrid fellowship includes an intensive skills-building bootcamp at Stanford, followed by six months of hands-on, project-based training. Fellows will receive a $6,000 stipend, graduate-level instruction, newsroom placements, and long-term mentorship from leaders in public health and journalism. By the end of the program, each fellow will publish at least three articles in established media outlets.
