Last month, ASPPH welcomed the 2024-25 cohort of the Academic Public Health Leadership Institute (APHLI) for an immersive three-day retreat at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) in Colorado Springs, CO. This retreat marked the official launch of the yearlong leadership development program designed to prepare senior faculty and emerging public health leaders to navigate the evolving challenges of academic public health.
Hosted in partnership with CCL, the retreat focused on self-awareness, strategic leadership, and peer collaboration—key competencies for driving institutional change. Participants engaged in interactive workshops, reflective exercises, and group discussions, exploring leadership strategies that strengthen public health education, research, and practice. Through this experience, cohort members forged meaningful connections and developed actionable insights to enhance their leadership effectiveness.
As the program progresses, ASPPH looks forward to supporting these scholars in applying their leadership growth to advance the field and shape the future of academic public health.
