Nominations must be submitted online through the CDC Foundation’s nomination portal by April 4, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST. Letters of intent to nominate are encouraged, though not required, by February 15.

The James and Sarah Fries Prize for Improving Health awards a $100,000 prize to an outstanding leader who has done the greatest good for the greatest number of people in the field of health. Nominations should clearly demonstrate the quantitative impact of the nominee’s contributions.

The Elizabeth Fries Health Education Award includes a $50,000 prize and recognizes leaders who make significant contributions to health education and health promotion through program development or delivery, policy, advocacy, or research. Nominations should describe how the nominee’s work has directly benefited the health of the public.
