This week, ASPPH hosted the 2025 ASPPH Sections Retreat in Park City, UT. Now more than ever, it was essential for members of our Academic Affairs, Data, Finance & Administration, Inclusive Excellence, Marketing & Communications, Practice, Research, and Student Affairs Sections to come together in support of academic public health. The retreat served as an important and impactful opportunity to connect, share insights, and reaffirm our collective commitment to advancing the field.
The retreat began with an opening plenary session titled, Now More Than Ever: Why Academic Public Health Matters. The session was moderated by Dr. Hilary Godwin, Dean, University of Washington School of Public Health.
The plenary also featured the following panelists:
- Tim Leshan, MPA, Chief External Relations & Advocacy Officer, ASPPH
- Dr. Nandi A. Marshall, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Georgia Southern University Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health
- Lymari Morales, MP, Associate Dean for Communications and Marketing, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
- Dr. David B. Sarwer, Senior Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Partnerships, Temple University College of Public Health
- Dr. Erica Whitiker Valenzuela, Assistant Dean Student Experience, Tulane University Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine
In addition to the plenary and general sessions, each Section hosted sessions developed specifically for their group.
We are truly grateful to all our Section members who participated in the retreat and for their willingness to share their experiences and expertise with their colleagues.
