Responding to the Climate Change and Health Crisis: A Framework for Academic Public Health

ASPPH is pleased to announce the release of Responding to the Climate Change and Health Crisis: A Framework for Academic Public Health. The framework examines climate change and health in four primary domains – Education and Training, Research, Practice, and Policy and Advocacy – and considers three cross-cutting themes: Environmental Justice, Social Justice, and Health Equity; Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Collaborations; and Partnerships for Impact. The framework concludes with a set of evidence-based principles and recommendations – for both schools and programs of public health (SPPH) and ASPPH as a whole – to take collective action and work with vested partners to reduce the impacts of climate change on population health.

The framework was developed by the ASPPH Task Force on Climate Change and Health, comprised of experts in a range of climate change and health-related topics from across our member schools and programs, with feedback from members and partners. In conjunction, we are also releasing ASPPH’s statement of commitment to addressing climate change and health.

Please also join us for the framework launch webinar from 2:00 – 3:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 26, featuring an expert panel that will discuss some of the challenges and opportunities it identifies. Learn more and stay up to date on future ASPPH climate change and health initiatives.
