2026 PPHS Research Symposium: Translational AI in Public Health Research

The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences (PPHS) at Keck School of Medicine of USC will host its annual Research Symposium on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Public health colleagues and prospective students are invited to join for a day dedicated to showcasing the breadth and depth of work across the Department, fostering collaboration, promoting team science, and strengthening connections. This year’s theme is Translational AI in Public Health Research. Keynote Speakers: – Vas Anest, PhD – Chief Innovation Officer, Keck School of Medicine – David Friedland, MD, PhD – Director of Clinical Artificial Intelligence Applications, Keck School of Medicine – John Blosnich, PhD – Co-Director, USC Center for AI in Society; Associate Professor, Social Work – Bistra Dilkina, PhD – Co-Director, USC Center for AI in Society; Associate Professor, Computer Science The symposium will feature faculty presentations from each of the Department’s five divisions, posters from trainees at all levels, and brief research talks from postdoctoral fellows. Topics will include how AI may impact the future of public health research, harnessing AI to improve health at the population level, and how AI tools and methods are being used in disease surveillance and prevention.
