Eduardo (Ed) Ruiz leads technology strategy and digital transformation for the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH). As Chief Information Officer, he oversees all aspects of enterprise technology, data modernization, cybersecurity, and digital platform development in support of academic public health. His work centers on aligning technology investment with association strategy to improve the health and well-being of everyone, everywhere. Throughout Ed’s tenure, he has built and led high-performance agile teams responsible for complex, multi-platform applications, including centralized application systems, e-commerce websites, subscription services, collaborative member spaces, and mobile solutions. He has directed cloud migration and data lake initiatives to modernize organization-wide business processes, improve governance, and position ASPPH as a digital innovation leader.
Ed continues at the forefront of innovation by championing ASPPH’s work on artificial intelligence (AI) for public health education, research, and practice. He focuses on responsible AI integration, ethical implementation, workforce readiness, and the alignment of AI capabilities with ASPPH's mission and vision. Ed believes AI represents a transformational shift in how we educate, conduct research, and serve communities—provided it is deployed thoughtfully, with human oversight and grounded in public health values.

He is also an accomplished public speaker with a penchant for visual storytelling and has presented at some of the world’s largest tech conferences, including AWS Imagine, Salesforce’s Dreamforce, Interop ITX, and Web Summit.
