ASPPH Presents: AI in Action for Academic Public Health

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated across public health education, research, practice, and the workforce, continued conversation about its responsible and ethical use is essential. On October 29 from 1:00–2:00 PM ET, ASPPH will host AI in Action: Practical Applications for Academic Public Health, the latest installment of the ASPPH Presents webinar series.

The webinar will explore how artificial intelligence is moving from experimentation to practical application across the public health ecosystem, while examining the governance, ethical, and human considerations that must accompany its use.

Moderated by Dean Melissa Perry, ScD, MHS, MBA, Dean of the George Mason University College of Public Health, the conversation will feature Dr. Amitabh Suthar, PharmD, MPH, Senior Advisor for Applied AI at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Together, they will discuss emerging applications of AI and considerations for implementing these technologies responsibly and effectively.ASPPH is committed to advancing the thoughtful and ethical use of AI in academic public health.

Through the work of the ASPPH Artificial Intelligence Task Force and the resulting Artificial Intelligence Framework for Academic Public Health, ASPPH has emphasized the importance of preparing institutions, educators, and learners to engage with AI while keeping human judgment, ethics, equity, and responsible governance at the center.

As AI technologies continue to evolve, ongoing dialogue across our community will be critical. Faculty, staff, researchers, practitioners, students, and institutional leaders are encouraged to join the conversation.
