Announcing ASPPH’s 2026 Public Health Education Enhancement and Development (PHEED) Grant Recipients

Congratulations to ASPPH’s 2026 Public Health Education Enhancement and Development (PHEED) Grant Awardees. These grants, available exclusively to members of the ASPPH Undergraduate Network, support collaborative projects designed to strengthen and innovate undergraduate public health education. This year’s awardees have proposed creative initiatives that expand experiential learning, strengthen workforce preparation, and enhance student engagement across the public health education continuum.

Meet our 2026 PHEED Awardees

PHIRE (Public Health Immersive Rotational Experiences)

PHIRE will establish experiential learning rotations within the undergraduate capstone course through partnerships with local public health practice sites. Modeled after clinical rotations, these experiences will help students bridge theory and practice while participating in career-planning workshops that support entry into the public health workforce.

Simulation-Based Education Toolkit to Build Oral Communication Skills for Public Health Students

This project will develop a replicable Simulation-Based Education (SBE) Toolkit to strengthen public health communication skills through realistic practice scenarios. The toolkit will support institutions in delivering training aligned with CEPH oral communication competencies and practice-based learning standards.

Public Health Leaders, Ambassadors and Educators (PHLAMES)

PHLAMES will cultivate leadership skills among undergraduate public health students while expanding awareness of public health pathways among middle school, high school, and community college students through partnerships and outreach.

Regional San Antonio Public Health Case Competition

This student-centered competition brings together teams from two- and four-year colleges to develop data-driven solutions to real-world public health challenges, strengthening teamwork, communication, and applied public health skills.
