My role in public health… it actually started as a journey. I had no idea that this calling that I would have was titled public health, and because I come from a family that really does work that’s rooted in a social justice philosophy, I knew that whatever I needed to do I would be compelled to impact the health of communities… and so what happened is that I knew that I like science… I actually got my degree in biology and got my PhD in the biomedical sciences, but it wasn’t until I did my post-doctoral work at the Harvard School of Public Health that I really saw this is what I want to do.
