ASPPH Welcomes Two New Staff Members

We are pleased to welcome two new team members to ASPPH. As our organization continues to grow, we remain committed to recruiting exceptional professionals who bring valuable skills, diverse perspectives, and a shared dedication to advancing academic public health. Due in part to our generously being awarded grants and receiving funding, we were able to fill the following new positions. Please join us in welcoming our newest colleagues.

Meheret Adera:

Meheret Adera is an Evaluation Specialist on the research and practice team. She supports the evaluation of programs within the ASPPH Center for Public Health Workforce Development. She brings experience in evaluation and HIV prevention and care, offering a strong foundation in behavioral and community health.

Meheret earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences from the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health and holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Rice University.

Marina Karasik:

Marina Karasik joins ASPPH as the Manager of Student Outreach and Recruitment. She previously served as a Senior Account Executive at Palladian Partners. In that role, she led and supported initiatives for federal agencies including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Marina has designed and implemented national public health campaigns addressing topics such as heart disease prevention and vaccine hesitancy. Passionate about health equity and stakeholder engagement, she is dedicated to connecting students with opportunities to lead in public health. Marina holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Maryland, College Park.
