Last week, Dr. Laura Magaña, President and CEO of ASPPH, was honored to represent ASPPH and the Global Network for Academic Public Health (GNAPH) at the Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH) Annual Meeting in Busan, South Korea. ASPPH is a founding member of and serves as the Secretariat for GNAPH, an alliance of seven regional associations that represent schools and programs of public health worldwide.

While in South Korea, Dr. Magaña participated in two panels focusing on a vision for the future of public health. She shared some insights into this vision for academic public health, including the need for a strong public health workforce and important transformations that are needed for public health education, such as pivoting to a lifelong learning approach and focusing on competency-based education.
