In today’s world, where misinformation and disinformation about public health are rampant, effective communication is more critical than ever. ASPPH recognizes this challenge and is actively reshaping the narrative around public health messaging to better equip the next generation of practitioners. Join us at the APHA 2024 Annual Meeting for our session, Messaging and Explaining Public Health in a Climate of Misinformation and Disinformation, on October 28, 2024, from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM CT.

The session will explore how public health professionals can combat misinformation while promoting evidence-based information. A panel of ASPPH Deans and public health experts will present new messaging strategies to address the rise of misinformation, which was particularly harmful during the COVID-19 pandemic. These efforts aim to demystify public health, making its crucial work more accessible to diverse audiences.

The session will also highlight the ethical responsibilities of public health professionals to foster public trust and informed decision-making through clear, science-based communication. Attendees will leave with practical tools to navigate misinformation, share best practices, and develop new approaches that transcend skepticism.

Join this important conversation and become part of the movement to safeguard the integrity of public health communication.
