Evidence for Action: Innovative Research to Advance Racial Equity Funding Opportunity

Evidence for Action Innovative Research to Advance Racial Equity. Funding Opportunity. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation logo. Three people discussing at a table

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s (RWJF) Evidence for Action: Innovative Research to Advance Racial Equity (E4A) funding opportunity prioritizes research to evaluate specific interventions that have the potential to counteract the harms of structural and systemic racism and improve health, well-being, and equity outcomes. E4A will be updating their call for proposals in January 2025; however, letters of intent for the current racial equity call may be submitted by November 1, 2024 at 3:00 PM EDT or a new application can be started in January 2025.

Institutes of higher education are one of the preferred applicant organizations.

RWJF’s focus on racial equity means they are concerned both with the direct impacts of structural racism on the health and well-being of people and communities of color as well as the ways in which racism intersects with other forms of marginalization, such as having low-income, being an immigrant, having a disability, or identifying as LGBTQ+ or a gender minority.

While they will consider research on various aspects of health equity, they prioritize studies of interventions designed to reduce race-based disparities and are particularly interested in strategies focused on developing healthy and equitable communities, supporting the needs of children, families, and caregivers, and fostering alignment among health care, public health, and social service systems.
