May 8 @ 1:00 pm 2:00 pm

Join us virtually or in-person for a webinar and panel discussion on May 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM CT that will explore the urgent call to action for academic public health to form strategic community partnerships while delivering robust public health teachings and learnings to prepare students for the world they will face upon graduation. Our panel of experts will delve into recommendations for fostering authentic, equitable, and impactful partnerships with communities and organizations.

In addition to Linda Alexander, Chief Academic Officer, ASPPH, who will highlight ASPPH’s pivotal report from our Framing the Future 2030 (FTF 2030) initiative, titled “Fostering Community Partnerships for a Healthier World”, hear from Dr. Shafik Dharamsi, Professor and Dean of the University of North Texas School of Public Health (North Texas), and others about the proposed strategies for positioning academic public health in partnership with communities and how North Texas is doing this through their community corps work led by the Associate Dean for Community Engagement & Health Equity, Dr. Emily Spence.

The webinar will also cover deploying strategies to support and sustain successful partnerships and developing curricula to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets for effective collaboration.

This discussion will not only illuminate the necessary steps for academic institutions to enhance their community engagement and partnership but also showcase how these actions can build trust, support public health values, and ensure the conditions for healthy living for all.
