Prior to the 2024 ASPPH Annual Meeting for Academic Public Health, over 30 Deans and Directors participated in an ASPPH Capitol Hill Day on Wednesday. The event provided an opportunity for ASPPH members to connect with policymakers and urge federal funding increases for key public health agencies and programs. ASPPH members highlighted examples of their institution’s programs and initiatives funded by these agencies, which are also aligned with ASPPH’s fiscal year (FY) ’25 priorities.
Some of the key agencies and programs discussed were within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) including, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and the new National Hepatitis C Elimination Program.
