What inspired you to study public health?

I wanted to aid in educating communities about prevention strategies and health to ease the burden seen in our healthcare system. If we can promote a healthier population before drastic care is needed, that would be extremely beneficial to society.

What has been the single most rewarding experience of your career/studies so far?

For my capstone, I produced an entire program plan that was completely mine. I think in public health there is such an emphasis on community, but this experience was something I could do for myself and by myself.

Where did you do your practicum? What was it about?

I worked with a transitional housing site to bring them an adaptable physical wellness program plan and implementation manual.

What do you hope to accomplish in your career?

I want to be a lawyer and aid in bridging the gap between health law and public health. There is so much that needs to be addressed from a political standpoint and I hope to be a voice of change in that area.

Advice:

Take the time to figure out what your interests in public health are. Public health is a broad area, do not rush to find something just for the sake of finding it. Truly look into yourself and what you like. Once you find your niche, the opportunities are endless.
