The ASPPH Welch-Rose Award recognizes the highest standards of leadership and scholarship in public health and honors individuals in two categories: Distinction in Public Health – individuals who have made lifetime contributions to the improvement of the health of the public. Excellence in Academic Public Health Service – individuals who have made extraordinary and lasting contributions in advancing education in public health. The award also honors Drs. Wickliffe Rose and William Henry Welch who’s seminal 1915 report continues to serve as a central reference point for the design of academic public health.

Criteria for Award


Eligibility


Nominations will be accepted from any public health professional.

Nominees do not need to be a current or past faculty member of a CEPH-accredited school or program.

Current ASPPH deans and primary representatives will not be considered.

In unique circumstances, the Executive Committee (acting as the Award Selection Committee) may solicit a nomination (or select an awardee not otherwise nominated).

Award Details


The awardee is recognized at the ASPPH Annual Meeting, traditionally scheduled for mid-March.

The awardee receives complimentary meeting registration, travel expenses, and a crystal award piece.
