Join Us for a Crucial Conversation on Diversifying the Health Care Workforce

RWJF - Diversifying the Healthcare Workforce event

We are excited to announce that Dr. Hilary A. Godwin, Dean of the University of Washington School of Public Health and ASPPH’s Board Chair-Elect, will participate in an upcoming Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) sponsored LinkedIn Live conversation, Diversifying the Healthcare Workforce in a Post-Affirmative Action World, on July 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM  – 1:50 PM ET.

The event will bring together leading experts to discuss and disseminate evidence-based strategies for fostering a more diverse and equitable academic health science environment. This discussion is particularly timely, coinciding with the anniversary of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, which struck down affirmative action in college admissions and which ASPPH covered in this webinar.

Event Highlights

Moderator:

  • Ayoola Carleton, Program Officer, Leadership for Better Health, RWJF

Speakers:

  • Dr. Margarita Alegria – Director, Disparities Research Unit, Mongan Institute, Department of Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital

Why Attend

The need for implementing evidence-based recruitment, retention, and promotion strategies for underrepresented scholars is more significant than ever. This session will provide valuable insights into maintaining commitments to racial and ethnic diversity, successful real-world examples following state-wide diversity bans, and the crucial role of funders in promoting a diverse healthcare workforce.
