Advisory Committee

The ASPPH Global Engagement and Partnerships Advisory Committee advises on matters related to developing and sustaining partnerships to advance our shared goal of improving academic public health education and workforce worldwide to accomplish our vision of improved health for everyone, everywhere.

Global Network for Academic Public Health

ASPPH is a founding member of and serves as the Secretariat for, the Global Network for Academic Public Health (GNAPH), an alliance of seven regional associations that represent schools and programs of public health worldwide. Our goal is to enhance academic public health worldwide through mutual learning and collaborations between academic public health institutions globally in order to improve and protect the health of people and the planet.

This Is Public Health (TIPH)
Global Grant Program

The TIPH Global Grant Program provides awards to academic public health institutions around the world to develop TIPH Global campaigns that increase the visibility of public health in a region outside of the US. TIPH Global projects promote awareness of public health issues, education, and career opportunities worldwide, with a specific emphasis on local communities.

WHO Workforce
Roadmap

In 2022, GNAPH was a signatory to the WHO’s Building the public health and emergency workforce: A roadmap. GNAPH served as a co-chair for the subsequent working group on competency-based education. The resulting Global Competency and Outcomes Framework for the Essential Public Health Functions was released in 2024 as part of the National Workforce Capacity for Essential Public Health Functions Collection.

Global Health Concentration Competencies

Global health is the interdisciplinary approach to studying the health of populations across the world, irrespective of national or political boundaries. Students who concentrate in global health have a strong interest in examining the ways health disparities and specific risk factors affect local and global populations. Students of global health often learn how international agencies advocate for individuals, increase access to healthcare, and ensure top health standards are met around the world. In 2018, we released the Global Health Concentration Competencies for the Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree.
