Advancing Global Partnerships in Academic Public Health

ASPPH is a truly global organization, with members in eight countries and partnerships around the world. Our commitment to global engagement is rooted in the belief that addressing global health issues requires a unified effort. We engage in global action, share knowledge, and forge meaningful collaborations across continents to support our members. Together, we can make a lasting impact, strengthen public health systems, and create a healthier and more equitable world for future generations.

Global Network for Academic Public Health

ASPPH is a founding member of, and serves as the Secretariat for, the Global Network for Academic Public Health (GNAPH), an alliance of seven regional associations that represent schools and programs of public health worldwide. Our goal is to enhance academic public health worldwide through mutual learning and collaborations between academic public health institutions globally in order to improve and protect the health of people and the planet.

Global Grant Program

The Riegelman TIPH Global Grant Program provides awards to academic public health institutions around the world to develop TIPH Global campaigns that increase the visibility of public health in a region outside of the US. TIPH Global projects promote awareness of public health issues, education, and career opportunities worldwide, with a specific emphasis on local communities.

WHO Global Competency and Outcomes Framework

GNAPH has contributed significantly to the development and early implementation of the WHO Global Competency and Outcomes Framework for the Essential Public Health Functions. ASPPH President and CEO Laura Magaña served as co-chair of the WHO subgroup that developed the framework and GNAPH has since been engaged in efforts focused on piloting and implementation following the framework’s release in 2024 as part of WHO’s National Workforce Capacity for Essential Public Health Functions Collection.

Accreditation Support for LMIC Institutions

ASPPH is currently working with select schools of public health in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) who are interested in applying for accreditation with the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) in order to provide them with guidance and mentorship. Overseen by a group of subject matter experts from our member institutions, ASPPH will accompany these institutions along their journey toward accreditation.
