Shaping the future of aging through public health to ensure longer, healthier, more active, and fulfilling lives, while creating a thriving society for all generations.
To meet this challenge, ASPPH has convened a Task Force of leading public health experts to develop a comprehensive framework for advancing healthy longevity. This initiative will assess the critical factors influencing healthspan, explore strategies for prevention and intervention, and position academic public health as a key driver of change.
The Task Force’s forthcoming report will outline:
The case for healthy longevity as a public health priority
The role of education, research, practice, and policy in advancing this vision
A roadmap for integrating healthy longevity into public health systems
The world is experiencing a demographic shift—by 2030, one in five Americans will be over the age of 65. With increasing life expectancy comes the challenge of ensuring longer lives are also healthier, more active, and fulfilling. Today, many older adults face chronic diseases, frailty, and social isolation—issues that demand a new public health approach that prioritizes prevention, wellness, and health equity across the life course.
