The Federation of Associations of Schools of the Health Professions (FASHP), which ASPPH is a proud member of, released a statement late last week on the importance of academic freedom and diversity, equity, and inclusion across schools of health professions. The statement highlights the importance of preserving principles of academic freedom, open debate, and creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for students and patients. FASHP members also emphasize that “creating space for innovative curriculum on complex issues is fundamental to the mission of educational institutions of health professions.”
At ASPPH, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) principles are the cornerstone of our work and are outlined in our Strategic Plan 2030. We will continue to work with FASHP and others to advocate for these principles.
