Syndemics are co-occurring epidemics with effects that can interact to intensify the severity or progression of health outcomes. Understanding the complex interactions and inter-relatedness of syndemics allows public health workers to plan interventions to improve health outcomes and address health disparities.
The presenters will highlight their work in understanding and confronting the co-occurring epidemics of opioid use, HIV, hepatitis, stress, and mental health.
