Last week, ASPPH released a statement applauding the Senate Appropriations Committee passage of the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill for fiscal year (FY) 2024. The statement also urges Congress to fund public health programs at the higher Senate level (vs. the House level) to enable proper preparedness for public health emergencies.
While negotiations between the House and Senate for the final bill may result in a Continuing Resolution (CR) that would maintain FY 2023 funding levels, the Senate markup aligns more closely with ASPPH’s funding priorities for FY 2024.
