Since our late June statement on the SCOTUS decision on race in higher education admissions, we have been monitoring the situation and we shared with our members the recent guidance from the Departments of Education and Justice. We are now pleased to announce that our ASPPH Presents webinar, SCOTUS Decision on Race and Admissions: Implications for Academic Public Health and What’s Next, will occur on September 11, 2023 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM ET.
The webinar will provide an update on the impact of the SCOTUS decision on affirmative action and what it means for the Academic Public Health community. It will also expand upon the recent guidance and will discuss the implications for ASPPH members in this new era of admissions, including the use of SOPHAS, the centralized application service for public health.
Panelists include Monique Dixon, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy, Office for Civil Rights, US Department of Education; Peter McDonough, Vice President and General Counsel, American Council on Education (ACE); F. DuBois Bowman, Ph.D., Dean, University of Michigan School of Public Health; and Johnston King, ASPPH Director of Recruitment and Admissions, who oversees member participation in the SOPHAS application system.
We hope you can join us for this important discussion by registering today.
