Last week, ASPPH staff met with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office of Health Equity (OHE) to discuss ASPPH’s shared mission to address health inequities and identify potential synergies. This was a follow-up to earlier meetings between OHE Acting Director Leandris Liburd and ASPPH President and CEO Dr. Laura Magaña.

ASPPH staff highlighted the important role of academic public health in advancing health equity, as well as ASPPH’s commitment to dismantling structural racism and ending the cultural, structural, and systemic conditions that enable racism in academic public health institutions.

ASPPH continues to prioritize the CDC and several of its programs, which are critical to addressing health inequities, including the Prevention Research Centers (PRCs) and the Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) through its FY 2025 advocacy efforts.
