The National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) is conducting a worldwide “We are Public Health” workforce study to update the content outline of the Certified in Public Health (CPH) exam. Be sure to participate by taking the survey and sharing it with other public health professionals and organizations representing public health and allied professions.
The study is being conducted to determine the most common functions of the public health workforce on a region-by-region basis across the globe. This will be the first-of-its-kind study using the task-based methodology to analyze the responsibilities of the global public health workforce at this level of detail. The survey is available in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, French, Spanish, and Mandarin.
A preliminary analysis and the data set will also be made available to partner organizations, including schools and programs of public health, for further analysis. The elements the NBPHE will collect include:
- Common functions and responsibilities
- Country of origin, race, and ethnicity
- Employer type and organizational affiliation
- Primary skills and area of expertise
- Educational background
The NBPHE seeks responses from all individuals working in public health, including faculty, alumni, and students with current/prior work experience in public health. A toolkit that includes social media posts, sample emails, and newsletter articles is available here.
