The Public Health Crisis of Gun Violence Impacts the Presidential Campaign

This weekend’s political violence underscores the urgent need to come together to address the critical issues facing our communities, including the epidemic of firearm violence and the polarization that divides our nation.

ASPPH stands firmly against all acts of violence, particularly those involving guns. Gun violence is a public health crisis that continues to devastate individuals, families, and communities. Moreover, polarization in our nation exacerbates this issue. To address this crisis, public health must continue to foster open and constructive dialogue for peace and reconciliation within our communities. By rebuilding the social network, reconciling our differences, and finding peaceful solutions, we can move towards a safer, healthier, and more united society.
