ASPPH, along with the DrPH Coalition and National Alliance of Public Health Students and Alums (NAPHSA), submitted a petition letter to House Appropriations Leaders Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX) and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) urging funding for the Public Health Workforce Loan Repayment Program. The letter includes over 3,500 signatures from public health degree students and alums from every state. There is still time to sign and we urge you to before it is sent to the Senate.
As the letter states, we believe it is critical that we invest in the future of our public health workforce to ultimately improve the health of Americans by empowering local governments to better address local issues. Loan repayment is crucial to ensuring each public health department has a skilled workforce to address their health needs. ASPPH continues to urge Congress to appropriate $100 million per year for the program. We plan to submit a similar letter to Senate leaders. You still have time to sign on to the House letter and we urge you to sign on by April 13.
