Public Health Reports: Provisional Entrants, Exemptions, and Kindergarteners Up-to-Date on Vaccination Before and After a Regulatory Change in Pennsylvania, 2015-2019

A new Public Health Reports study describes the effects of Pennsylvania’s changing school entry-vaccination policies after cutting the grace period for “provisional entrants,” students without medical or nonmedical vaccination exemptions, from eight months to five days. Authors suggest that efforts to reduce provisional entrants could increase the number of students who are up-to-date on vaccines without a corresponding increase in exemptions.
