Sydney Bond, MPH

Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine
Maternal and Child Health

What inspired you to study public health?

I knew I wanted to be a midwife and family nurse practitioner but I did not want to be a clinician solely. My goal is to promote holistic health and create programs and a space for people to receive the care they need to maintain healthy lives rather than helping people when they are sick. Our medical system in the U.S. needs to change and with my degree in public health, I hope to make striving in making these changes.

What has been the single most rewarding experience of your career/studies so far?

Getting accepted into the nursing program that will help me continue working towards my goal of becoming a midwife and family nurse practitioner.

What do you hope to accomplish in your career?

I hope to one day open my own community health center that includes a birth clinic providing preventive health care.
