What inspired you to study public health?

I was inspired by my mom who is a nurse and was the first to teach me everything I know about health.

What has been the single most rewarding experience of your career/studies so far?

I think the single most rewarding experience of my career/studies is working alongside and for the Filipino American community as a Filipino American by participating in a research roundtable regarding the topic of Filipino cancer survivorship to have productive discussion of best practices.

Where did you do your practicum? What was it about?

Dr. Annalyn Valdez-Dadia of CSUDH’s Lab. I formed and designed the website of a social support network geared toward Filipino Americans and educational health information.

What do you hope to accomplish in your career?

To ensure acceptance, accomodation, consideration, representation, and visibility of marginalized folx. This would hope to be accomplished through evidence-based public health interventions.

It is okay to be curious and ask questions. This often sparks the most engaging and interesting connections.
