What inspired you to study public health?
The ability to contribute to science and make a global difference on a population level.
What has been the single most rewarding experience of your career/studies so far?
While every experience in my public health career has been rewarding in their own ways, one of my top experiences was being accepted into the National Institute of Health’s Minority Health Research Training program placed with Kingston, Jamaica.
Where did you do your practicum? What was it about?
Since I completed a Master of Science, I completed a thesis rather than a practicum. My thesis was titled the Association between Fear of COVID-19 Diagnosis and Cannabis Use Patterns Among Adults Living with a Chronic Disease using data from Dr. Denise C. Vidot’s Global Cannabis and Psychedelic Research Laboratory’s COVID-19 and Cannabis Health Study.
What do you hope to accomplish in your career?
I plan to complete a PhD in Epidemiology and work to advancing research for people living chronic diseases, specifically Sickle Cell Disease.
Advice:
When it comes to epidemiology, study designs are your friend, so get to know them well.
