ASPPH is proud to be co-hosting Boston University School of Public Health’s upcoming public health conversation, Preventing Gun Violence: Next Steps for Academic Public Health on Wednesday, October 11 from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM ET. Convening numerous speakers from the ASPPH Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, the discussion will center around the role of academic public health in advancing long-term solutions to the epidemic of gun violence.
The event will be moderated by Jennifer Mascia, Senior News Writer for The Trace, and opening remarks provided by Dr. Laura Magaña, ASPPH’s CEO and President, who will provide an update on the ASPPH GVP Task Force and its framework for academic public health. Speakers include Linda Degutis, Lecturer at the Yale University School of Public Health; David Hemenway, Director of the Harvard Injury Control Research Center and Professor of Health Policy at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health; Corinne Peek-Asa, Vice Chancellor for Research at UC San Diego; and John A. Rich, Director of the Rush BMO Institute for Health Equity at Rush University Medical Center.
